Eagerly awaiting here, too. I'll agree with the crop, and add that this could probably use a little bit of sharpening; Looks a little fuzzy in the tree details. Other than that, real nice.

I actually didn't notice the upper branch initially. For me the branch at MIDDLE center is distracting, particularly since its right smack dab in the middle of a sequence of small falls and rapids. It also breaks up the view of the creek leaving a small segment orphaned upstream. Sometimes it can't be helped so it's still a great shot.

It's hard to get a shot like this without the clutter. I'd say you did a good job. I can't wait for spring after seeing this.

Thanks for the reminder that spring is coming, my feet are a little itchy too.
Great comp, and the light at the back is nice. The overeager part of me pines for some God Beams back there, but the rest of me is happy to take it as is.

I'm working on getting my comment ratio up, Jack. so, ah, yeah, nice shot.
Hope you're feeling better soon. Hey, in the meantime, can I borrow your D700 to shoot some of Ellen's B-ball games? The gyms around here are dark like caves and my D2x doesn't do too well at high (+200) ISOs.
Okay, gotta go, gotta go get commenting, you know, it's all about the ratio.

Mark - your commenting enthusiasm is killing me - I'm in stitches!
Meanwhile... Jack, this one hits the spot for me. Great greens, perfect exposure for the water, and that great light in the background combine perfectly. I am not bothered by the branches that others have mentioned.

Amazing you took so long to post this wonderful image. I agree with the top trim, but flawless otherwise.
Ah, Spring in the PNW! Sigh... I'm glad you reminded me that it's not too far off. Darn, I wish the branch sloping into the center across the stream wasn't there. Can't find the other one mentioned. But overall this is a good presentation of Spring in this part of the world.
And since my ratio is apparently okay, I'm headed for bed!

Cool shot. I'm working on older stuff as well, it's been slow for me lately.
This comp is nice, but I would like it better from two or three steps to the left, showing a little more distance to the creek. I might also warm this shot up VERY slightly. The light in the background really makes this shot, well done!

Jack, why did you shoot it at 400 ISO, when printed large I think this will show some noise......you could have shot this at 100 ISO F 16 at about 20 seconds.....the quality of the print would have been much much cleaner........this is a great shot and by far on of my favorite creeks........!!!

I guess it won't be too long until the green makes its Springtime debut.
