Looks like we may have good weather for a sunrise shoot this coming Saturday. Anyone interested? Maybe shoot Lake Jordan or at the Haw River boat launch area off 64. Matthew, any other ideas? Matthew showed me a great spot on the West side of Jordan but you need some thigh high boots to walk from the car to the shore. I have one extra pair for someone to use if we go there.

Scott,
I am interested in the shoot. However, wading with camera gear is not my strong suit. I'm a walking example of Murphy's Law in those situations, and my D700 is still "too new" to risk it. I will, however, go anywhere that I can remain mostly dry.

Scott, I'm interested.

For no waiding we can try the spot we went to last time at the boat launch on Farrington Rd. Another potential spot is the trail along the HAW River near 64. Matthew has shot there (I have not) and has a some nice shots on his website. That way if sunrise is bad we can get some flowing water shots.
Matthew, can you join us?

I like the Haw River idea. We've been to the Farrington fishing pier area enough lately. :)

We need to plan a day trip over breakfast Saturday. Or even an overnighter (winter waterfalls or winter lighthouse) would work. Let's talk about that over breakfast Sat.

Hear, hear! I've got my eye on the overnight thing for Hatteras (the point and the lighthouse), and Bubbling Springs for waterfall, or any other waterfall that could be interesting in winter.
My wife is out of town and I'm watching the kids. Depending on where you guys decide to meet I'll try and make it for a brief photo jaunt.

Hi Matthew. Any suggestions for a location? Is there a good spot for flowing water/rock on the Haw?

OK,
Matthew has a great photo on his site http://lightskyland.com/img_permalink.jsp?imageid=443
This is taken from the northern most 751 causeway on Lake Jordan. It is about 7 miles north of 64 on 751. The shot on Matthew's site is taken toward the east. It looks like a good sunrise location. How about we all meet there at 7am. Sunrise is at 7:21. After we can get and get caffeinated. Is everyone up for that?
I just don't think this weekend is going to work for me due to my wife being out of town. The kids will be in bed asleep and I have to feed and turn out the horses.
You guys go ahead and pick somewhere and go shoot and have fun! I'll see you guys next time.

I will be there.

Matthew,
Sorry you won't be able to make it. Joe, see you Sat am. Bill?

See you all there

Hey Guys, I drove by tomorrow morning's location today. The best spot is the northern end of the causeway and since there looks to be no clouds tomorrow I will be getting there around 6:50 to catch the early sky color before the sun makes its appearance. See you there.
