Hey all I have tried the Lens Align system and calibrated my camera body and lenses for optimal auto-focus performance unsing the AF microadjustment feature on my camera. What a differnce in results! For more info see here:

I've been hearing that the focus fine adjustment work OK for single focal lenses, but not for zooms. Is that true? I pretty much only use high quality zooms now.

I also micro adjusted all my lenses. What a huge difference!!
I found that all my lenses were off a little bit and were adjusted about +5 ish.
I calibrated my lenses by shooting something at the distance I normally use my lenses, at f-2.8. Then I used the camera software to verify where the focus point was. It was quite clear that the camera focus point was just out of the sweet spot. After a few test shots and ajustments I got them all working better than they ever have.
Great essay Darwin! Thanks for the very valuable tip. I can't wait to see your article on your new processing methods. Those last few posts are amazing.
I did a little testing with my 24-70 across the zoom range and it seemed out about the same amount no matter where I set my zoom, so I think the lens align thing is worthwhile even for zooms.
Of course I never have any problems with my TSE lenses since they are manula focus and I always use Live View to get what I want sharp to be tack. Darwin

Very nice article on lens alignment. On my recent trip to Florida, I experimented with live view and got much better results shooting water droplets on spiderweb. We are going to calibrate our lens using 50D micro focus adjustment feature.

I recently found this article on microfocus adjustment using your LCD Screen: http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/cameras/1ds3_af_micoadjustment.html
