This is a pair of juvenile common gulls (I believe?) taken earlier on this year at a local nature reserver near Bristol. The gulls took each other out around 50ft above the water and crashed to the floor disappearing from view totally, they then sat thrashing around in the water fighting for a couple of minutes and then both flew off in opposite directions.
I have never seen this behaviour before and was surprised at how aggressive these birds are. The pictures are not technically spot on but I was please to capture this behaviour

Yes, great behaviour shot, and interesting story behind it too. I've never seen anything like it either. I know gulls are aggressive, but usually they just seem to squabble and move on.
As an example of a certain behaviour this is a commendable shot Colin but as you have suggested, as a stand alone image it doesn't really work for me.

Gulls can be very aggressive as I found out last year. They also kill each others chicks if they have to.
I'll place a picture of it on a new post.
Great shot.
