The Sprint
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4, 1/500s, f7.1, iso 200

The coots have been quiet, indeed hiding, for a few weeks. However, they were a lot livlier last weekend and, for a change, I managed to get a couple of shots that were sharp on the head, rather than the wake. It's hugely entertaining to watch from this perspective and I expect them to get ever friskier over the next few weeks.

Great action... It may be the compression but the blacks appear to be blocking up a little, looking at the whites it looks like the image will stand a slight lift in the levels, this would help to bring the eye out a little more as well... love the stern look these birds have....

I really do like that, the warm background colours countered by the cold blues in the water really add life to the shot. Maybe its a tad too tightly cropped though, I think it needs a little more space around the Coot to give it some "room to breathe" in the frame !

A very nice action shot, the water hung in the air looks superb. The BG looks good too.

This has everything, an exceptionally fine capture. Action captured at its very best.

Good stuff Ian
More space left so he's coming into a gap is a minor nit.
