Hello all, first time post on this forum but have been snapping away for a few years now. I live in North Yorkshire and have these guys on my doorstep so I spend quite a lot of time with them.

All comments gratefully received

welcome, nice shot, the side lighting and setting are great, perhaps a bit too busy though

Echo Jack's comments Simon, however, as point out on 'mine' would like to see a little more space on the l/h side. :wavey:

Welcome! :wavey:

Nice first post, I agree that it could have a little more space to the left, but don't think it's too busy. Lovely setting too. Perhaps could do with a tiny bit more warmth....?

Look forward to seeing more!

Welcome Simon,
Very nice image, good pose, sharp details & the frosty heather makes a great BG.
(What do you think of the 20D)

Thanks for the comments all, I agree a little bit of extra room on the left would help. Its close to full frame but I have an inch or so spare to play with.

Lee the 20D is a great camera in my view, its served me well. I have a 1D Mark III now but will still use the 20D for the extra crop benefit when needed

Welcome Simon. Lovely first post. I like how the warm light contrasts with the frost. Perhaps you might tone down the two grass strand coming from the head region?

Works for me. I think it would have worked even better still, if the grouse was further to the right, say with the R.H. edge about half way down the back.

An excellent shot, exceptionally well seen and executed.

nice grouse, not keen on the grasses though, the frost really adds something to the image.

Welcome and a nice image to open with, agree about the grass in the bg but not a lot you could do about that....
