Seattle Skyline - from Pike Place Market
Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 17 - 40mm F/4.0 L @ 17mm
1 sec @ F/8.0 ISO 100

For my birthday Nancy took me for two nights at the Inn at the Market and fine dining in Pike Place Market! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! Pike Place Market is one of my most favored Seattle haunts!!

Our room at the Inn had a huge patio from which to shoot twilight images!! It was a real pleasure to shoot from that unique locale! Oh and the coffee in the morning on the patio was pretty sweet too!

The Canon 5D Mark II is my first full frame DSLR. Getting that extra wide view has really been fun!

So lemme know what yall think of this one. I processed it on my laptop. My primary home PC had a major hard drive melt down this past weekend!! Major hassles but no data loss since we backup all the critical stuff.

Remember if ya don't do backups ya must be a huge fan of Russian Roulette!!

Real nice shot, Rick. Contact the people who own that deck and take this same photo of them having a party up there or an intimate dinner at that table and I think you'd have a classic "Seattle" shot.

Friken perfect exposure and processing btw.

Wow just gorgeous great light and PP work. Really like the reflection of the sound in the brick building windows very nice.

I'm not really a big city type of guy, but I love Seattle. Lots of fun stuff to do and see all in a compact little area.

The colors and light quality are awsome in this shot, although I'm not raving about the composition. I know you were trying to squeeze Rainier in there, but the dark-ish right 1/4 is totally out shined by the reflections and colors of the left side buildings, and I want to see more.

Happy B-day! I hope you two had a good 'ol time.

Rick - awesome view! The colors are killer here and you exposed perfectly. I guess the 5DMkII is looking to be putty in your hands...

A pretty professional architectural shot IMHO. I've seen alot of these type shots before and this is great Rick. You handled the lighting nicely and there is very little shadow which takes up unwanted frame space, espicially with this type of shots. The color temp looks well balanced also.

Ah, this makes me miss Seattle. I lived off of 11th in the U-District for a little over a year... one of the funnest periods of my life.

This is a very technically sound shot. The WB is handled well in a realistic way... you didnt go super cool or even almost purple like a lot of city shots lately. The vertical lines are handled well and you captured the clean classy feel of the architecture in Pike well. :toast:

Nice job on the lighting, I'm a fan of the lights on but still a little atmospheric light type of shot. BTW, I forgot to add a huge congrats on the new job in the other thread where you noted it. WTG! ...and now I'm off to back up my hard drive.
