Took a little walk in the park this morning before the snow starts melting away this afternoon. I've been a little lacked on getting some winter shots the last couple of weeks. The morning walk was very nice and kinda jump started me somewhat. I had intentions of checking out the pines and think I found a few decent things to shoot concentrating mostly on some close up work. It's like I've been waiting for some kind of specific winter weather which has prevented me from enjoying what I've been given. I know all to well the beauty is here I just need to open my eyes.
Nice photo Brad. I like the way the textures are shown really well. Down here in Newton, we were certainly happy to see that big orange ball in the eastern sky this morning. It was a slippery ride into Wichita yesterday. I didn't have my camera to shoot the ice on the trees, but they were sure beautiful.

There is some wonderful detail revealled in this intimate look Brad. I like the warm tones of the pinecones and the contrast of the cold frosty coating. The bright spots in the bg pull the eye some but overall I think this is a nice find and capture. Well seen!

When I initially saw the photo, I was like WOW!, because I was seeing the upper 2/3s of the photo on my monitor. As I scrolled down, though, the bluish background distracted me. And, the closer I look, I'm asking myself about the rusty-colored halos around the pinecone edges - particularly in the lower left. Any idea what's causing that???

Tim, I'm sure Brad will chime in here but I suspect the halos you mention are the result of a bit of Ortonizing.
