shot taken with a garden background of shrubs mostly Dogwood i know things have been said about busy backgrounds but i do like to try different things and hope the bird fits the BG.

Looks OK to me generally Kieth. The bird is great.
The perch seems a liitle "eye grabbing " for some reason. Maybe its just the angle with it going up out of the shot and to the left.
Good stuff though.
John
Thanks John i did not think this BG would be up your street.
Cheers Keith.

I love it! The background colours are complementary. Looks sharp with plenty detail. From an aesthetic point of view, I would like little more space to the left of the curly twig - but I realise this might not be possible because of what might be at the end of the larger branch. In fact, I think this works well in pano, cropping from the top to exclude the knuckle top left. The curly bit then balances the image. Yes - it's a stunner in my book!
The B.G. is what I would normally call busy, but is it effective, that I think is up for debate. Personally, I think there is just a tad too much red/pink in it, as it does draw the eye.
My main concern tho’ is the perch, as it does tend to dominate the final image. Just look at the image, and not at anything in particular, what do you notice most, that is the dominant element.
The L.T. Tit itself is really great, you have done an excellent job here.

The undulations of the Corylus avellana 'Contorta' branch against the striations of the BG complement each other very well. The LTT is, of course, top notch.

Hi Kieth.
Wrong mate !
I do like the background ! As would be expected Red would be the dominant colour for Dogwood (Cornus sanguinia.) and I know you were working with this. Try doing the dickies on the red twigs themselves ! Drill some holes in a bit of 3x2 and stick the twigs in it !
Cheers

Looks fine to me but, I do feel that the perch might be a touch dominant for a delecate bird... you could possibly lose some from the left and have a bit more below (the bird is looking in a slightly downward direction...
