Alright, so it's a black kite from Nairobi, I hope that's ok! These are often thought of as vermin in Kenya (every time you have a bbq you will have about 30 or 40 soaring over the garden, and there is always a chance they'll take a burger out of your hand ), but I think they are absolutely stunning! It always amazes me that they are so similar to the red kites that I see such great shots of in this forum.
I only had 200mm at my disposal for this shot and I decided to try and include something to give a sense of scale. Does the out of focus foliage work for you? I realise it won't be to everyones taste!
techs: 200mm, 1/3200s @ f5, iso 800. Slight crop - approx 4/5ths of original
thanks for looking!

Hi Billy, one on the side of the BBQ would be great!!!
wonder if they will eventuall split this yellow billed SSP's?
Needs to be further away from the tree for me and recomposed accordingly.
The Kite itself is truly great, everything spot on apart from the comp. which I mentioned above.

The nits have been covered Billy, minus the OOF foliage and you have a nice shot of a kite.

Well taken oppertunity Billy. Would be better without the foliage but still a nice capture. All we get at a BBQ is wasps.

Burgers is one thing, never put sausages on your barbeque as they can't distinguish between sausages and fingers...enough said. Nits aleady covered, otherwise a fine shot.
Cheers guys, I guess the foliage idea was a bit of a flop! I have some other ideas for these amazing birds for when I get back to Nairobi (such as standing on my roof for eye level flight shots! )
For some reason they also like avocados that fall in the garden, but they are so hard to get close to when they are on the ground, and they have to compete with the monkeys!
