Red Deer in forest
We have some amazing stags in Holland. Big, powerful and a incredible creatures. A bit like me I think
This stag stould right where I wanted it to be. It was a bit of a dull day but you can't have it all i'm afraid.

iso 250 1/80 sec. F5.6

brilliant shot, the position of the stag, the pose, the setting are all great

Good habitat/ animal shot Edwin. It looks a little washed out on my gear and when I drop the montor brightness down to 60 it looks a lot better to me.
Just my opinion.
Cheers

Thanks,

John is right. It does look washed out. I was struggling with that and thought it had something to do with the weather. I will try to reduce the brightness tonight. I'm of to the forest now, it has been snowing a bit :toast:

I like this - love small animal in big habitat. The antlers and branches shapes work well together, and the curvy branch overhead is a nice touch. I pulled it into PS and in Image>Adjust>Exposure shifted the gamma correction to .85 and it makes a huge difference. Very nice environmental image.

Great habitat shot. The comp suits perfectly.

Ed - open in PS and do a levels adjust at HL 226, Mid 1.39 and Shadow 48 - this makes the image a lot punchier.

Very nice comp though matey - nice :wavey:

A really great environmental shot, where all the elements come together, yes better quality light might have helped, but this could so easily be a dawn shot. Excellent shot, exceptionally well composed.

I may be wrong but suspect you used WB Auto. As good as it is it doesnt always provide the best result. The composition is just right.

Lovely Red Deer in landscape mate!
Color issue has been covered and is easily corrected.

@Major:

I never use auto balance. In fact, I never use anything that contains the word 'auto'
I just think it has something to do with the weather conditions and not enough contrast somehow.
It's easily corrected but at the moment I'm to lazy to do so:) I think some great tips have been given and I will try them soon.

Another fine composition Edwin. The only nit has been mentioned as far as I am concerned. I very much like these shots that you are posting with the subject a little smaller in the frame - nature images in the full sense of the word I feel.
