Cloudless morning at Sprague Lake/RMNP
Well it seemed like Saturday am was the morning for alot of NPNers to head upto RMNP, and upto Dream Lake. Steven P and I opted for Sprague lake; it was VERY cold with a sustained wind, cloudless, and far from spectacular conditions.
Here are the best from the morning. I know they are far from being award winning, given the conditions - but a morning out in nature is better than none at all imo.

I liked the light filtering through these trees, used a small f/stop to catch the sunstar.

Light was starting to get harsh, but the wind blown snow on the creek bank in Moraine park was interesting, some Elk hoof prints also on the far bank.

Lets not forget the "infamous" Sprague Lake tree root!.

Nice shots Nick,
I like #1 but #2 more, all are very good shots considering as you say “far from spectacular conditions”

One more image taken through the trees, this one I couldn't decide if a 4 x 5 crop would be better, cropping from the right predominantly?.

Nice, Nick--i really like those forest shots a lot! I could go for the crop idea on the last.

I also like your forest shots, Nick. Image 2 is my favorite.
Those conditions are tough for the grand scenics, but being forced to look for alternatives is a good exercise - at least that's what I keep telling myself.

Thanks BIll, and I agree it is a great learning tool when the scenics don't pan out to look for something a little different!.

Great crop on the forest scene. Completely transforms the image. And I agree with you on #3. I think it's the most interesting of the series. Despite the harsh lighting, your perspective is great.

Nick,
Very nice collection on shots. You were quite procuctive. I too, like the forest shots the most. I also like the stump shot, but think it is a little tight. The bottom is touching both sides.
