Been out putting Kingfisher perches up around the lake this afternoon with the 'dipper virgin' - young Craig - and took the 800mm with me to line everything up.

Job sorted, myself and 'the hired help' :argue: :argue: retired back to the woody feeding station in some rubbish light just to watch when this wee chap dropped by and presented a shot too good to miss.

Techs

D300
300-800 @ 800mm
ISO 1000
1/80th @ f6.3
PP Bibble & CS3
Full Frame

I've had to clone a bit of rubbish from the beak and it looks superb at full rez but its not quite to my liking at web sizing - so don't moan about it 'cos I already know!!!

And the shredded bark is hiding that awesome tail - but you can't have everything and I was pleased with it as a grab-shot.

Thanks for looking folks :toast: :toast: :toast:

Nice Andy and nice clone job.

Thje best opportunity I've had of these is when I had just bought my 500 prime and just got rid of my 100-400mm. The b*^%$£&^ presented itself about 10 feet away in perfect light, was motionless for about 30 seconds and it could have been nailed..... I just sank........ Have since bought a skateboard and can reverse to prime minimum focusing distance in just under 4 seconds  Getting my hoody off is still a problem though!!

Would be very pleased with this

Very nice. They are fast most of the times but when you make a sqeeky sound they freeze for a short moment. That's how I do it. Some people like to use glue  Only kidding.

Well done.
