Met up with Dave, Morris and Ken sat morning to shoot Dream Lake.
First real hike of the year and it was gut wrenching, well for me at least. I managed to make it up to Dream Lake a few min before the light started to hit the peaks. I took a whopping 12 photos before my fingers went numb. Ran into Jim and his friend while up there and Jim was nice enough to let me use his gloves for a few min to warm up my fingers before I headed back down.
Thanks Jim!
I hope we have another outing up that way, the ice up there was incredible and I’d love another crack at it.

Hey Kurt, congrats on the first hike! Your image isn't displaying for me. I'll take a look later.

Great variation on the dream lake ice Kurt! I've been wanting to make it back up there myself. I wish it weren't such a long drive from COS.
Great image! Nice meeting you. Wind was howling, and I was MUCH more out of shape than I thought:) How much further was the hike from where we separated?, on the GPS it only looked like another 10 min or so.....
I wanna try it again with a little less wind :)

I agree!
Are the warm colors present a reflection from the early light?

Thanks guys,
Dave I would have to guess it was 15-20min further, and during winter time I think it’s quite rare up there to get a non windy morning. John you are right these are the warm colors from the early light, I was actually taking a photo of something more dominant but I saw this off to the side a little and I thought oooo underwater sea creature’s lol. So I did a crop and bumped up the sat up a little to try and bring them out more.

Dave, you were just one hill away from Dream Lake, it was a great morning. I like the morning glow on the ice Kurt it looks great.
Kurt,
Sorry I wimped out and only made it past Nymph. I only took 11 shots that morning and had to head back down. I was chilled to the bone and spent 30 minutes in the ranger's shack at the parking lot. By the time I got home, I realized I was probably reacting to some medicine I was taking. Didn't feel good Saturday or Sunday. That and being too out of shape didn't make for a productive trip for me.
I your ice shot. Very good abstract.
Enjoyed snowshoeing with you too, Dave, and of course my good friend, Ken.
