I finally managed to get down to my local pond this morning, planning to get the mallards flying through the blizzard, but for some reason they weren't in the mood for flying! I did manage a few fairly atmospheric shots, and this is one of my favourites.
I know some may not like him swimming out of the frame, but for some reason that has never really bothered me
Is this still classified as a signet, or just a juvenile swan? My title may need some modification...
techs: 280mm, 1/800s, f5.6, iso 800. Makeshift snow cover made from a plastic bag and some tubigrip
oof mallard cloned out of the background
Thanks for looking!

I like that.
If the Swan was the only thing in the frame, then it swimming off frame might have been a problem, but as the snow is as much a main part of the image, I almost like the air of indifference to it that he/she is portraying!
Doesn’t quite work for me, as I think the swan really does need to be swimming into the frame.
Looks like he is swimming towards you, possibly in the hope of a feed. If so then a piece of bread thrown to the left would solve everything. Like the idea, and you might have another chance tomorrow, according to the weather forecast.

I'll head back tomorrow, but for once I'm a bit disappointed that the forecast is sunny in Bath!
