A friend of mine who has a place in central Wisconsin directed me to Pewits Nest State Natural Area, near Baraboo, last October. What a fascinating location, filled with photo ops.

Nice shot you really captured the feel of the place. This has become one of my favorite spots in the fall. The heavy rains this summer cleaned most of the logs out of the stream. Unfortunately the leaves fell early this year and they were mostly down when I made the trip.

An outstanding composition, Kerry. I may have to see if I can get there someday.
Tim--absolutely, a marvelous location (and very poorly marked, I might add ). It's a very easy walk to the top of the gorge...and it wasn't all that precarious to get down to the small ledge where the above shot was made.
I spent most of the day there (until the wind really picked up and the clouds parted to the point where the light became problematic) and I had the opportunity to scope out many intimate shots as well as the broader scenics. I hope you and Phil and anyone else who has shot at Pewits Nest will post some of your own images from this location.

Nice shot, Kerry. I'll have to get there too as it's not to far.

Woah Kerry! This place looks as if it would have tons of potential for different perspectives especially if you were able to get down in there. The layering of the rocks down the side is wonderful, the depth to this is fantastic as well! Personally I might be tempted to boost the saturation just a teeny tiny hair in this! Great image!!!!

I love this scene! It is gorgeous and interesting from top to bottom and from side to side. The splash at the bottom is like an exclamation point at the end of a well-crafted sentence!

Beautiful! I love all of the wonderful splashes of color through out this image.

What a fantastic view, Kerry! I really like the little splash at the bottom of the falls too.

Isn't it a wonderful spot? Pewits Nest is one of my favorite places in the Baraboo Hills, and this is a relatively easy hike.
Great shot,
Tim!
