I think I can get used to not having to go to college  I was able to get out this afternoon to find this guy hunting quite early in the afternoon. I guess due to the snow he had not eaton for a while. He did come closer but only to check me out so the background is sky, this is my favorite. Comments and criticisms appreciated.

I like this - its nice to see a 'barn in its environment' shot for a change. Nicely composed. Well done.

Nice environment shot. I would be inclined to crop out most of the white sky to just above the tree line.

For me, an enviro shot works best if you can include more landscape. The bird look good and in focus though.

Agree about cropping however, next time, perhaps instead of cropping bits off (as Ian suggests), like Des suggests - a bit more landscape, simply move the camera down a bit.

Nice enviro shot whatever I say though, I wouldn't complain with having taken this shot, well done !

As some of the other guys have said there needs to be more of the foreground.
If the bird can be seen with more of the environment it doesnt need to be large in the frame for the image to work.

I like the idea, but for it to work for me, the B.G. needs more “punch”, particularly the sky.

Thanks a lot for all the comments its appreciated, I now agree with the lack of environment, but the owl was high in the sky so I only chopped some off the left and right of the image. I have another one from the series which I prefer and may post later.
