Grey Heron on Ice
Got a few days annual leave, so I made the most of my time and visited my local reserve today. This one posed nicely for sometime in various positions, but I particularly like this, as something caught it's attention, and stretched it's neck beautifully to have a look.

40D, EF400mm f/5.6L USM (borrowed)+1.4x, ISO 200, f8, 1/1250 sec.

Very nice Fran. The bird has stood in a good pose & the background is nice too. The comp is spot on.

Very nicely composed, Fran, but on my monitor it looks as though it could use a tad more sharpening.

Nice capture Fran, good comp. and good lighting. A touch more sharpening would help. :toast:

Thanks for your comments re: sharpening I quite agree. I seem I have lost detail on uploading. Will give my images an extra touch next time I upload.

Thanks again.

I had one in my garden today, needless to say I didnt get a shot. You seem to have caught this guy in a good environment with nice light. The image is looking a little flat on my laptop but that could be the monitor.

see you very soon!

An excellent portrait, just needs some sharpening, particularly noticeable around the head.

Very nice portrait Fran. Nit covered. These must be struggling with so much water frozen.
