Short-Eared Owl
For the first time in over two years the Short-eared owls on my local patch are being a bit more obliging. I managed to get full frame shots yesterday and a visit after work today produced this bird even before I had parked the car. I was reversing into a parking slot and as I looked behind there he was sitting there watching my reversing skills.

Nikon D300
Nikon 300mm f2.8 +1.7tc
400 iso
f6.3
160th sec
just about full frame

When I'm parking my car I feel lucky to get a collared dove. I would be jealous if I did not know the many fruitless hours of fieldwork that you put into this "lucky" moment. Great stuff, Tony.

Superb image of a great subject! Have you considered cropping out the brightest bit of the sky right at the top?

Stunning Tony. Not only is the owl great - with the trademark eyes - but the textures in the post really add to the detail in the image. Cracking shot
