Had a peaceful day watching these guys today, as cold as it was. My behind is still thawing from sitting in the snow for too long.

A larger version HERE.

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

top marks for effort Des, those can't have been pleasant conditions for photography. This is very nice and certainly captures the weather conditions very well.

I like this, great subject and excellent cold feel to the image too.

I really like this, bags of atmoshere especially with the ancient oak tree in the background. the OOF foliage bottom right is sufficiently diffuse not to impact

As a thought and to protect your nether regions, WIldlife Watching Supplies make a small double sided waterproof kneeling pad which makes a great thermal barrier to sit on........ it's saved a soggy numb bum for me on many occassions  - it also doubles up as back padding for my rucksack when carrying my kit over longer distances ( I prefer the lighter and more comfortable webbing on an army 30L rucksack over standard camera backpacks.)

It sounds as though you have been suffering for your art. The results were worth it if this posting is anything to go by.

An excellent shot by any standards, well seen and taken, hope you got a shot with more room around it.

Looking more closely at the image, there is something strange around the rear legs of the rear stag, looks like a “crop” line.

Ed you crack me up big time    . In answering your question - we're not that far from Sherwood Forest

Ray - can't see where/what you're referring to. I cropped a sliver on the left but the right was untouched

Des

I'm looking at the ends of the legs and just to the left. I'm not saying it is anything you did, it just looks like "cut" lines for want of a phrase. It just looks strange to me, even tho' I think its a ridge of snow..

Very nice capture Des, i'd be happy with one in the shot but in symmetry is very cool.

Andy...
