Something a little different for me
This is a shot from a couple of weeks ago from the Lyon County State Fishing Lake outside of Emporia, KS. Not the sort of scene I normally take and I'm not sure what to make of it. I like the texture on the ice and the color, but not sure if that is enough of a subject...

Canon 40D, 24-105L@24 mm, ISO 200, 1/60 at f9.0.

Scott, this is a pleasing comp and the grays of the water & ice convey the feeling of season very well. I like all the varied stages of our liquid lifeblood seen here. I like it.

It's not the subject it is the light and this light is very attractive and moody.

It's always nice if there's something to nail down a composition, but sometimes in a landscape the composition is the subject. And really, you do have a center of focus in this photo, the ice and light in the lower right, and from there you've got good lines taking you through the image.

I think I would do something about the blown-out area in the upper right, though.

Thanks all!

Randy, I agree. I am going to print this tonight and I'll probably clone some clouds in over the blown out highlight or crop the picture slightly.
