I have visited art galleries where artwork is sold, usually as limited editions. But I do not see anything on the print that indicates it as such. Maybe I should look closer. So my question here is what do you do to make your photographic print a limited edition? Do you mark on the back of the print " 1 of 200 " (for example) along with your signature? Would a certificate of authenticy which would accompany the print be essential? What ways of proofs are there to make genuine limited editions?
Thank you for your response.

Yes, write the edition number on the print and also include a certificate of authenticity. Both will work.

With limited edition prints, some states in the US require documentation as such. As I understand it, a certificate of authenticity works, with print name, artist, maximum run of the edition and the number of that particular print, plus sometimes other requirements. New York State is the main place I have run across that requirement. I'd definitely check the laws in Canada for your case.
