Canon 40D, Canon 100-400L IS, F8, 1/250ss, iso 400, Tripod.
I now I'm going to be told to try this rotated, and I have play with idea for some time. Flipping it forwards and backwards, and just can't make up my mind so I have gone for the way it was taken.
Re rotation, whatever rocks your boat, so to speak. I only ever mention rotation/flipping to open people’s minds to possible alternatives re composition/presentation.
My only suggestion would be a little more detail around the eye, particularly as the head is black as well.
Ideal for web presentation, an excellent shot and no real crit’s. Nice one.

Excellent shot, it's great just the way it is! Lovely background, very dynamic pose. Nice catchlight in the eye. I'm guessing the full size version has plently of detail around the head, as the exposure looks spot on. A lot is lost in web squishing...
Great work!!

lovely shot, think i might have prefered a bit more of a head turn, still a beautiful perch and a great pose

Great shot, this way looks fine.Did you saturate the colours? Head is very black, might just be my monitor.
Look forward to more of this lovely bird.

Hello Brian.
Yes I have added some saturation. I usally add +5 for most of my images. There is full detail in the blacks but at this size and being compressed it is had to see it. But I can see your point.
Thanks for your comment,

Very well taken, there are some of these birds at my local spot but they are never still long enough to get a decent shot(yet). Guy, Nice pose & details. The snow on the perch & the plain background look good too.
