Eagle landing on perch
Here is another bald eagle photo. Hope you all are not getting tired of them?

Unique postion again Larry but I miss seeing the eyes. Did you make all these eagle images on the same day?

Wayne,
Photos were taken on a couple of days. I would have preferred to see the eyes too, just couldn't get him to look up. Guess he was afraid he would miss perch?

Thanks

Another fine shot, Larry. I knew you must be shooting with a pretty big lense and then I ran across your picture on the introduction thread. That looks like a monster lense on your camera. Can you share the size of that lense?

Tom,
The lens in the intro thread is the 400mm VR. Most of the eagle photos were taken with a 600mm, some with a TC added.

How much image degradation do you experience when adding the TC Larry?

And was it the 1.4x or the 2x? I miss the eyes too, but there is some really nice detail in the wings.

I just checked the EXIF on a couple of the photos, looks like most were with the 1.7 TC. I don't see much if any degradation with this particular combination. I also have a 2.0 TC that does not play well with the current 600mm. Having the extra pixels with the D3X helps a lot I think.

Wonderful Larry, and I can't imagine anyone being tired of eagle shots. The sharpness in this is great!
Keep up the nice work.
