Took the chance to go up into the hills this afternoon to find a few grouse. The snow+freeze has left them all running around on the top of the snow and having to dig for food. After spending a few hours up there I've got to say they really are hardy little birds - I spent about 15 minutes out of the car at one point (car thermometer said -5) and I was absolutely frozen in the wind... you wouldn't catch me spending a night out there - even if I had a feather duvet to keep me warm .
Very effective, catching the conditions superbly. Excellent shot, no crit's.

the colours and lighting are great, but the sense of the wind in the snow is fantastic, truly beautiful, less sure about the comp, i like the portrait orientation but would prefer a little more room on the right and less on the left

Great shot! The mix of sharpness, dof and snow is excellent, well captured. I would tend to agree about needing a little extra to the right to balance it.

Nice low viewpoint. I'd maybe like to see the Grouse slight more to the left of frame but other than that, nice!
