Ruby Beach Shows Her True Colors
Really a hit or miss on the sunset shots at Ruby. Anyways veered off my main account path on Wed 2-04-09 and headed to Ruby. At first it looked like it was going to be another wash. Then all of a sudden the colors emerged from the fog and clouds on the horizon. The color show lasted for about 10 minutes and that was it. But it was worth it. CC,Feedback, greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking

Hi Ray,

I love the comp on this, but the mid and background rocks look pretty dark. Any chance you can lighten them? That pink color is fantastic! Nice capture.

That is really sweet, Ray.. I really like the mistiness of the water, and just enough foreground element...wonderful mood.. :toast:

I love the photo. Great color. I love the pink hues in the water. Can you post what your settings were for this photo?

Oh this is pretty shot of Ruby! Love the color in the sky and the hint of it in the water. Nice, nice fg with water over those rocks. Dreamy. Sigh…

Ray,

The rocks in the lower right serve as a nice anchor. On my monitor though, I don't think the rocks are too dark. I think the lighting is perfect. Nice comp as my eye just naturally moves around the frame, enjoying every aspect of the scene.

No nits from me, I think Kosta said it all. Top notch image!

No nits here either - lighting and color is great and there is just enough detail in the rocks to keep it where I'm not wanting to see more. :toast:

Ray I really like the smooth texture of the foreground rocks and the color that is picked up in the moving surf. Looks like it was a rewarding sunset!

Lovely, magical image. The foreground rocks really make it for me.

Dang! Crop out the top two thirds and focus on those rocks! That's were the art is, imho, as always.

Very nice image & lucky timing !

The color is fantastic, and the comp works well for me. The uneven luminosity of the faces of rocks (the islands, not the foreground) looks irregular.

Love it Ray. Perfect exposure for the water. Beautiful and paceful!

Despite the sky color, the most interesting element is the FG rocks. There is too much pull towards the massive darkness above, so I would join the chorus to lighten them. This is a shot worth putting more work into.

Thanks everyone for the comments and feedback I tried to take a few different images in regards to more or less foreground rocks. Here is another image taken a few minutes later as the color intensified a little more and the foreground rocks are more prominent
Thanks again for looking and commenting
