Redstart ?
This is a redstart I think, if anyone know different please say so, they were all over the place a few weeks back and seemed quite approachable, at least from the car.

Tech : 50D ,600 F4 ,ISO 200, 1/250 at F8 , car window , 50% of full frame.

Hi, I'm of the opinion that this is a stonechat (male). Bit early for redstart i think.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Nice shot though love the over shoulder look.

Sorry Bob, but its a male Stonechat.

Would have liked slightly more head turn, otherwise a very nice little portrait. Excellent detail, exposure etc..

Hi Bob

Definitely a Stonechat. I remember going fishing with you many years ago, you were the pioneer of uptiding, indeed, i still have your book. You revolutionised boat fishing, and are now retired, good on yer mate, i hope you have as great a time as the people you took fishing.

Regards

Steve

This is nice Bob, the detail in the bird is excellent, a little more head turn, yes, but still a very nice shot with a gorgeous BG.

Hi Steve, so many face to remember from the boat, email me some time. It’s a sham we didn’t have the cameras then that we have now, all those bird we could have photographed from the boat. I still have a fast dory so if you fancy it let me know, the top end of the river is alive with birds, sorry no fish.

Whatever it is (I would have thought stonechat too), you've got superb detail in the plumage and eye. I'm wondering if there is a bluish cast, but then I fiddled with my monitor settings earlier.

Stunning details in the bird with a good looking perch & background. A very nice image.
