A bird I've been after for some years - well, a sharp shot at least! The snow conditions in the Forest of Dean are amazing at the moment, but it's melting fast. A low viewpoint to get the oof foreground was on purpose to get that bleak and surreal feeling. I preserved the bluish white balance of the shot as this is how it came out the camera and how it felt at the time - cold!

What do you think?

Canon 5D mkII, 600mm. ASA 320. F8. 1/250sec. Full Frame.

What a striking shot, with just the minimum of colours, the blue and yellow, it is a very colourful shot.Great .

beautiful, the diffused foreground and lighting really make this a wonderful shot

Beauty. One of my favourite birds too. Low viewpoint and comp. colours are superb. Great stuff. Mark

I really like this one, nice colours, nice graduation from the bottom of the frame and simple colours with the yellow from the GW adding just the right amount of colour to break things up nicely :toast:

Love the colouration and POV on this one.
Only thing for me is the eyelight but I am sure if this were a bigger image you would see it. :toast:

I like this as it is a refreshing difference having the lightest tones at the base of an image; the shadows of the bird hold good detail as well.
