Alone on the ice
I like to take these kind of shots now and again. As its a nice change from the 'frame fillers' .

This Bewick swan stood alone on the ice for quite awhile.

Converted to B&W

Thanks for looking and for your comments.

Looks rather lonely, as if he is looking at his mates disappearing into the distance and what a strange neck.

I think I would have liked the swan to have been lower in the frame, if possible.

Nice shot, well seen and taken. Not many would have seen it let alone taken it. Nice one.

Very nice, lovely composition and the b&w works really well. His neck does look a bit strange though, perhaps he just ate something lumpy or was just uncurling it?

Lovely shot! :toast:

This definitely conveys loneliness and desolation. He looks quite forlorn and sad. Mind you, I would too if I had a neck like that! I wonder how it might look even lighter than posted.

The neck/crop looks strange because the bird is suffering from lead poisoning. It was probably too weak to leave with it's companions and will probably get weaker and weaker.

Phil - It did fly off in the end

This looks comical and makes me laugh. Don't think the swan feels the same way!
