Friends from the Arkansas Canoe Club reported the following roads are clear of downed trees as of today. I hope this helps if you are in the area.
Richland shuttle road now open!
Reports from the field today 2-7-09 are that the Richland shuttle roads are open on the North side of the creek. The landslide and many trees still block Falling Water Road.
In addition, reports are that Richland Creek itself is free of wood from Cindy's hole to the campground. Reports of little to no signs of ice damage along the creek.
Dixon Ford Road...
took three of us six hours to clear FR1463. Most of the removals were pines which were fairly easy.
Dixon road accesses the the Upper Bufalo Wilderness area from Highway 16.

Thanks for the report Tom. I'm glad to know that there is access to Richland from the campground, since there is likely many trees/limbs down along the cemetery route. Where do you guys put in on Richland Creek anyway? Is it that little bridge near Ben Hur?
I drove all the way to Six Finger falls yesterday, so I think the road is probably clear to the landslide.
THANKS to you and all the volunteers that are helping clear the roads!!! I took my chainsaw yesterday just in case anyone needed help, but the roads were relatively clear...

Bill, the put in can be reached by taking the road from Ben Hur north 3.5 miles to the low water bridge, (Forest Road 1203) or you can access it from the north from Lurton via Forest Road 1200. FR 1200 is the road we took this fall to access the campground area.
I suspect you are correct in your assumption that the cemetery route is blocked right now.
