Diamond in the Rough
This shot was taken along Rocky Point Road south of Two Harbors on the Minnesota North Shore. I stopped to see if I could photograph ice piled up along the shore but didn’t see much to shoot when I turned around to leave I happened to looked down and there was a small area where the rocks were covered with several inches of ice. I liked this shot the best.

I used a warming filter on this one.

I like it, the first thing i saw was a distorted face, that's the cool thing about ice and frost: the imagination and mother nature can create the familiar. Don't know if that's what you wanted, it's what I see. Nice capture

Very nice image, Phil. I like the way the colors from the rocks are pulled up through the ice. Bet the details are gorgeous on a big print.

Phil - nice one indeed! I really like this. A square crop is also an interesting alternative, but this is lovely......

Stony point you mean? There was a ton of ice there when I was there on the last day of January (though I don't know that I got any great shots). Good capture here. I like the way the light's interacting with the ice. A bit of a crop off the right side might be beneficial.

Wow, very interesting, Phil. It looks like some kind of excavated jewel.
