Shot just after the last one, I think I prefer this, with regards to the lack of light on the face do you think it works? any comments appreciated.

Liam,
I like the idea, but I don't think it works here, Just too little detail. If it stood out just a bit more and/or the background was a little darker then it would be a great shot. Don't be disheartened by my comments, I merely speak as an observer, I DO like the idea of the shot though.

I agree with Brian here Liam - lighting on the wing is nice but against a white sky it just means the owl is too dark.
Needs a colourful sky or another stop of exposure.

Hi Liam, I think you've done a good job with the conditions you had at the time. The dull sky doesn't help at all.I like the positioning of the bird, on a different day a potential cracker
Sorry Liam, not for me, needs more “life” in the image, the B.G. is just too grey. But you know where it is, and there is always another day.

Yes Liam if that sky had been different then it may been a whole new ball game.
There is always the temptation to capture images perticularly of these great birds what ever the conditions but it doesnt produce the desired effect if a certain percentage of the requirements dont come together. The lack of light you mention on the face is just one of those requirements IMO. Keep on plugging away at them though as one day it all does come together.
