Moss
It's been a long time I was here. Sometimes I had a little time to look a the pictures posted here and give some replies.
But here is a new picture of my made this afternoon.

This piece of moss is about 2 cm (0.8") and has fall of the roof.
I put the piece on an envelope and used a daylight lamp for the light.
This lamp was just in front of and above the lens and the moss.

50mm + extensionring + tripod + remote control.
Exposure time 1/5 s
F-number f/16
ISO speed ratings ISO 100
Exposure bias value 0.67 eV

All c&c welcome.

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

Remote control, Ummm.

Thought you had got your conversions wrong, then I saw the small dot, Tom, don’t take offence, but the convention is 0.8

I can see why the remote control, and I see you don’t say your camera used, but I suspect that you used mirror lock up, as the detail here is astounding.

A truly excellent “still” life, technically spot on. Excellent shot.

Hi Ray,

I did add the extra "0" (zero) in front of the dot.

With remote control I meant connected to my laptop and control the camera from there. So I do not have to touch the camera after manual focussing.

Thanks for your c&c.

I never knew that Moss could look so interesting. I really like the shot, something completly different.

Great shot Tom.

certainly different Tom, but very well executed. Great detail and well exposed too.

Interesting and quite nicely executed... my area of expertise... first observation the space at the top is not needed, I would crop so that the space around the specimen is equal. You have actually lit the subject in correct scientific terms, i.e. main from top left, I would add some more fill using reflectors below and to the right just to soften the shadows.... nice to see though because mosses can provide fascinating subjects, perhaps you can explore even more by going in even closer, perhaps concentrating on the fruiting bodies....

Enjoyed viewing this, well done

i've often wondered at moss, thinking it was such an interesting plant, but never really been able to come up with the definitive moss shot. i think this works well.

Some cracking textures in this Tom, really different - I like it.
Wonder if a crop that removed all the white and just filled the frame with moss would be worth a go, to really emphasise and take you in to the textures of the moss?
