Hi Jeff,
Nice picture but on my monitor it looks a little pale and unsharp just like your copyright.
Did something went wrong somewhere?
Or is it just me??

Hi Jeff,
I'm guessing your monitor isn't showing you what we're seeing! Hit the auto-levels or the auto-contrast thing in Photoshop and all will be better. The square crop works well. PS Can't help with the monitor (if it is that) - I'll leave it to someone else to give advice.

Better, but you've now put in a lot of noise / speckling. When I copy this into PS and do auto-contrast the colours look great and there is no noise. So what you doing?
Apart from the square crop with the bird central in the frame not working well for me we seem to have some major processing problems here.... perhaps if you can outline whether you are shooting RAW or JPEG, and the steps you are taking in processing to reach your posted image we will be able to help a bit more....

adjusted hopefully for the best - seem to have afew problems
One for PhilH , would you be so kind as to give a an outline of the order in which you carry out your basic P.S routine. Not all the ins and out just what you would do for a well exposed RAW file , that would be very helpful . Sorry if this topic has already been covered in the past.
Te second post has it, still an excellent shot, if you are still having troubles with your processing contact me, as I might be able to help to point you in the right direction. Nits to one side an excellent shot, just needs more work on it, hope you still have the original RAW file

Are you downsizing Bi linear or bi cubic ?
Makes a hell of a difference especially if you sharpen afterwards.
