Fox Portrait 2
got the processing a bit wrong on the first one for anyone wondering why this post disappeared for a second

a bit different from the first shot, still working on this, this is a bit closer to what i want but the focus is a little out here. Using preset manual focus and in this one the point of focus fell on the nose though you probably can't tell at this size, going to try again tomorrow night and aim to get a profile shot as i think it probably works better

40D + 150mm + off camera 580 EX + white table to reflect
F11
ISO 320
FULL FRAME

I'm afraid this one isn't for me Jack. It reminds me of a foxes mask that a friend of mine used to have on his wall.

Also a great shot.
But if you can manage to get some (reflected) ligt on de left side it would be perfect imho.

Agree with Tom, some more light on the left would help, but you have the eye contact spot on. Am really enjoying seeing your work with this fox

Jack

You might need to get your reflector a bit closer if possible to bring a bit more fill. I remember you mentioned having another flash gun a while ago. Have you thought of using that on manual as a backlight to get a rim around the head and ears. Just a suggestion.

Cheers

Terry

Now I think this really works well in comparison with your previous shot. Being side on with the head turn has removed all the potential distractions in the B.G., and you got the eye contact. Superb shot.

As a bonus, you can add canvas if ever submitted for publication so as to give the publisher more options.
