I was working with a group in Sutherland photographing red deer, and as the light was very poor (mist and rain), making sharp shots of the moving animals nigh impossible without resorting to 4 figure ISO settings I decided to use a really slow shutter speed and 'pan' with the subject to give this deliberately blurred image.
Deer run 'from the waist down' and this image gives some idea of their elegance and fluid movement over rough ground, which I've been trying to capture the 'feel' of for years.
The fun aspect of this type of image-making is the unpredictability of the results, and that's also a good incentive to keep having yet one more go at it!

One of our fellow photograhers has a saying about this
"If it is not sharp it is art".
I think this is surely true about this picture.
Very interesting, very abstract, as I’m sure you are aware it would need species ID when posted, published etc. As I said a very interesting image well worked and visualised.

I like it - it does remind me somewhat of cave drawings. And yes the unpredictability of this sort of thing does add to the fun
