I like this. The space to allow the hawk to look into is ideal, and there's just enough space to the right of the kingbird so its not tight against the frame edge. Theres a story in this, and works well. I'm really pleased you've resisted the temptation to frame too tightly, as the empty space to left is crucial to the way this images works. Nice one!
I like this also, but with respect to Steve, I prefer the original. It was a dull, grey day and the image reflects that.

I like the simplicity in the composition. Feel Steve's reprocessing helps bring it out better - the birds become more obvious which makes the story in the shot clearer. Definitely worth keeping it full frame Barry

I prefer the original the repost looks false in some way but I'm no expert and it could be my screen. Nice idea for the shot though. It's a move and your mine situation isn't it?
Barry, full marks for trying something new, its how we all learn, but unfortunately for me, it just doesn’t work, as I find the tree the dominant factor in the shot, the "story" just doesn't come across. Never stop experimenting.

The Kingbird was keeping very still and watching the hawks every move.
