Another from the dusty shelves ,. We found 11 nests in 300 acres that year( 1970 ish) in North Lincolnshire.
Pentax with 8" Dalymyer plate lens glued on to bellows. The only 35 mm camera of its day with a rising front !

Hope you're not put off by old stuff,
Cheers

Hi John,
Very nice, Wonder what the nest count would be for last year in the same area????

Thanks all
As a matter of interest she reared 7 young ok that year ,so the nest disturbance wasn't too bad.

Last years count - to my knowledge Nil
But it maynor have been a good vole year. The island in theHumber is now virtually washed away. I put this picture on in tribute to an old friend Miles Hopper who passed away recently. He tought me most of what I know. No finer naturalist existed in my opinion.
A little story about him. he was watching dond on the Humber area recently and there were two young camo clad twitchers there. He had seen a SEO quartering and as he passsed them he told them and where he had seen it. They replied
" Oh no - the SEO's don't come out till about 4:30- must have been a Tawny."
He said
"Oh- and walked away"
#PS I am working on a PSP7 hand coloured version. ! Should be a laugh !

Great image. Especially the owl looking straight to you with her big eyes.

Great shot John, you must have been well chuffed to get that shot. Not seen any like that before only flight shots.

Interesting image John and when you look back what a memory that must be.
Indeed Lincolnshire was the place for these birds including the South.
Great picture.

Really like the original John, never seen a SEO nest so thats something new for me :) If i didnt know the second image had been hand coloured i might question the processing, but its a not bad effort all the same :)
