Finally a semi-recent shot that I can post. I haven't been able to get out much this winter due to school and work (as in, lack of work) restraints. A few random day trips are all that it has amounted to. Through the wonders of the internet, I found out that there was quite a bit of ice piled up at Stony Point, a rocky Lake Superior beach that is about half way between Duluth and Two Harbors on Minnesota's North Shore. This knowledge and some unseasonably warm weather beckoned me north for the day to check it out. I really don't like doing day trips, as you only have one chance for decent lighting conditions. But, I think this attempt worked out alright given my time constraints...The shot was taken after sunset - and yes, it was very blue. Thanks for looking.

I like this one, Joel. I grew up on a farm and one of the best things I remember about winter is the blue cast to the snow between sundown and dark. Good job.

Very very nice!!!
You are making the most of day trips.
Speaking of the restraints, I find it funny that when I was in college I had time but no money for gas or film. Now I work and have the cash and film but not the time.
I need a sabatical :-)

Fantastic Joel! I love the streaking clouds! When did you take this?

Looks fine blue. It is amazing the power of an ice field when it is moving and looks like it has a lot of power even when it is piled up.The sky is great also.

Oh man this is killer! Wow 90 seconds! Those clouds look great, and the blue is so natural. This is begging to be printed HUGE!

Beautiful image, Joel, as always. And I've spent many a long hour on Stoney Point either shore fishing or just goofing around. That was some years ago. I keep threatening to make some day trips to L.S. to get some serious shoreline landscape work done, and this excellent treatment of color and contrasting textures is inspiration indeed!
