Foggy and frosty morning.
Had planned to shoot sunrise with Bill M Sunday am, but the fog put an end to any chances of shooting grand scenics!. We went our own ways, and I ended up at a local nature area/gravel pits 3 minutes from my house.
I haven't seen fog this thick sense spending 4 years in NC, and in my native England. It was fun wandering around the ponds in the fog, unfortunately the sun didn't break through earlier enough to give the fog a orange glow. Here are a couple from the morning anyway.

I really liked the monochrome nature to the majority of the ponds in the fog, but this one I liked the slight contrast between white frosted trees and yellow grasses. Any processing suggestions/ideas are more than welcome though!.

Nick,

I've been trying to get out when conditions are like this for awhile, nice job making the best of a bad day for grandscapes. I like both of these but I think the 1st is stellar, I really like the cattails in the foreground, and I especially like how the trees progressively fade into the fog as the shoreline travels away and across the scene. Very nice images.

Nick,

I think #2 is excellent...love the composition and the lighting, especially.

They're both great Nick. We had conditions like this on Saturday in the Springs.

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the rare fog. Both are very good, but I like the composition in #1 best. For me the foreground reeds make the difference.

Nick,

Really like # 1. Great tonal quality. Excellent work!
Try this one as a black and white. I think it would be perfect.

Both are excellent, I like the mood of #1. Great comps!

Wow, Nick, the first one is very compelling with it's mood, and I like the lead-in line on #2 with the ice, and the frosted trees.

Both are real nice. I like the second one the best with the nice light and the way the edge of the ice leads the eye through the image

Nice stuff, Nick,. I especially like the first one.

Those are both really, really beautiful, Nick!

These are both nice. I like the first one best. I think the second could be a touch darker. Great comps on both.

Nick,

Too bad about the original plans falling through. Who would have guessed it would have turned out so well though. But you managed to pull something off anyway. Which pond did you go over to?

I really like the mood and comp. of the first one. Wish the frost was a little heavier so that I could see it better on the small print.

You can shoot grand scenics most anytime, but when you get conditions like this you have to take advantage of them and you certainly did here. Both are excellent, but I really like that comp on #2.

Nice images. Really like the color in the second image.

Excellent mood and feeling of cold in #1, and nicely composed. #2 is good also, but #1 totally rocks!
