I’ve been very envious of some of the barn owl pictures others have shown on the forum; they all seem to have good backgrounds. The barn owls that I have concentrated on fly over the flat reclaimed land which is in the main featureless so most of my owl picks are against the sky. Today in poor light I found two birds working on land that falls away and at last I have backgrounds for the barn owls.

A very good behavioural image. I like the movement in the wings.

Tis a good one.... OK there is no eye contact but the hunters intense pose more than makes up for that....

Are you shooting with branches/twigs in front of you? perhaps with a bit of care remove the obstructions between you and the subject?

Shame about the OOF branches/wires you appear to have shot through, they detract from an otherwise very good image that captures the typical Barn owl posture, a few more visits will get you the shot you're after I am sure!

A good action shot Bob. Nice and sharp where it matters and just the right amount of movement.
Keep at it.

At least it hasn't got a ring on it Bob.
Great when they hover directly in front of you. I am at times and do leave the picture taking and just observe. Nice one. :toast:

Thanks for the comments , I have great hope for this new site as it is very near a caravan site so the birds are not easy to spook.

I agree about the branches - sounds like a promising site indeed. Look forward to seeing more.

The OOF foreground twigs spoil an otherwise excellent shot for me.

Well worth pursuing this site, I’m sure you will get some quality shot very soon.
