Wrong...it's not the Bittern!
Taken whilst out with Colin and Barry last week. During a quiet spell from Bittern acitvity I decided to try and make the most of it by getting some shots of the Grebe that I spotted earlier in the river opposite. Not easy to follow as everytime he dived under the water he would pop up way downstream due to the fast flowing water

if u're still in the area, follow the path that follows the course of the river past the metal bridge towards fisher's green carpark. U can get a lot closer to them and the water's not as fast.

Thanks for the tip Szekiat! I'd like to try my hand at these again as I've not photographed them before and there is plenty of room for improvement on the shot above - I just thought it would make a nice change from all these common as muck Lee Valley Bitterns

very nice shot Richard, like the comp and the head turn is lovely, as for these common as muck bitterns (spit contemptuosly for effect (couldn't find the emoticon for that one )) almost wish they'd go away again as it really is too busy around at moment, though i guess if they become a regular fixture like they used to be people wont rush over to see them if they are staying around
