The oak is splitting the clouds - amazing image, Steve! Would that be a gambel oak?

That is some amazing frost!

I like everything about this until I hit the blue sky. There seems to be some strange color transitions - at least on my monitor. Probably only a JPEG conversion issue?

I'd consider a 4x5 crop, removing the top, and getting the tree less centered, but that's just my bias.

Did you tilt the lens for this image ?

That is some amazing frost, and you used it well in this composition!. I like Bill's idea of a 4 x 5 crop, though I don't mind the blue at the top, I think less of it may strengthen the composition.

Very nice Steve. I like the bit of blue showing at the top and wouldn't remove that from the image.

I enjoyed some time out in the wild frost Saturday too.

Dave: Yes I think it is Gambel Oak
Bill: I did use a bit of tilt

I like it a lot, Steve. I like the browns and the blue and the clouds and the tree and the texture.

Nice shot Steve - kind of takes your earlier frosty grasses style work to and extreme!! I like this with a bit less blue at the top. In this case, I think the hint of a clearing sky is stronger than showing that much open sky. I also helps to keep the focus on the bottom half.

Awesome shot Steve. I too am a sucker for frost. I really like the contrasts in color and texture across the composition.
