Just had a quick stint on the "Grice" in some God-awful light as you'll see from the techs.

D3
300-800mm + Nikon x1.7 TCE2 (modified)
ISO 2000 (yes that's not a typo!)
1/125th @ f7.1
Full frame
Manual focus

Bit of a sex-machine this D3

Thanks for looking :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

Andy it can do more in the ISO range with good results, however it can't make tea!

Nice one :wavey:

Wow, super sharp, and I've looked very hard, but I can't see any noise!

The 'god-awful' light has given nice subtle tones, and the grouse really stands out!

Lovely shot indeed - ISO 2000? Pah, you can push it much higher than that and still get surprisingly good results

Lovely shot I really like the eye contact.

Wow that is clean for iso 2000, I struggle to get results like that with iso 400 on my 350d.

nice shot Andy, really like the pose here, the noise is really quite impressive, though i wonder what the point is, most of us just use ISO 400 and wait till it's daytime , seriously though what time did you take this that you could only get 1/125 at ISO 2000!!

Jack - time of day irrelevant, amount of light (in this case none) is what counts - with an effective 1300mm+ focal length, manual only focussing and no light what would you do prithee

That's the point

Mr.Treadwell - well it could have been a D3X if someone I know had offered me one for Norway

Yes it is thanks matey

Very nice Andy, I really like how the muted colours set the mood.

Super grouse shot Andy, especially considering the technical difficulties
