SD view
Another sw SD view. This is from almost the same place as the image is posted a couple of days ago (blue sky), but the 180 view looking toward the southern Black Hills. Comparing the two, you will see we have some variety in this neck of the woods!

Lon, the diversity of features is quite remarkable in this region. I sure hope to get there some day to experience it for myself. The warm light on the fg & mg grasses is excellent and play well against the cooler light on the distant hillsides.

Thanks for sharing! :wavey:

A wonderful view Lon, the layering of texture and colors makes for a really nice image. Well done.

I like all the layers, and especially the warm grasses in the FG. If this were mine, I might try to lighten up the shadowey areas in the mid-ground just a touch. Your neck of the woods looks pretty cool. Guess I'll have to add another place to my ever-growing list of spots to travel to. I visited Mt. Rushmore as a child and still remember it clearly. However, can't remember much else about that trip. Would be neat to see the area again.

The sunlight on the Blue Stem in the foreground reminded me just what a chameleon it can be. Blue Stem grass goes through a wonderful change of color through different seasons as well as taking its cues from the available light. I love the colors captured in this very fine photo.

I agree with Angela that a little lightening of the cedars in the mid-ground would help bring out more of the rich colors available in the image.

Lon, I've wanted to take a trip to the Blackhills and Badlands for awhile now and your pictures really whet my appetite. Nice job showing some of the topography of your area.

On my monitor I think, just pulling the curves up a little makes the foreground grasses color really pop.

Thanks for sharing.
