Red eye
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4, 1/800s, f8, iso 200.

One advantage of not getting out with the camera is having the opportunity to process some images! This guy really wasn't too sure about me. One thing I really like about coots is the intense colour or their eyes when seen in nice light. Slight crop.

The larger version is much better: http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/largephoto.cgi?ref=115915

Hi Ian,

One of the best shots of a Coot I have ever seen. The exposure is spot on, these are tricky to get right, but you have got this one bang on!!

Excellent work, thanks for sharing

Regards

Rob

Great shot, I love the pose and the ice-like water, the large version really does it more justice.

Hi Ian

Beautiful stunning image of a coot. Great composition and good control on the blacks and whites with that piercing red eye. Lovely tones in the foreground and lovely clean background.

I really like this shot and as others have said, you've done really well to get the level of detail you have.
