Prez Day at the Dunes
Well, I finally got some time off and some sleep to boot so I could make a quick trek down to GSDNP. Albeit fairly early for the type of images I got last year in April when I discovered my inner duneness. The conditions here in Colorado being very dry and unseasonably warm through out the winter months, I figured really I ended up with conditions I would have expected in mid-may. In any case I wanted to try out my new 12.3Mp system and afford my wife some time on her new 10Mp system. Well with much flair or fanfare here's a sample of what I got.

By The Way The Nikon D90 ISO Setting L1 = 100 iso "Always Tripod Mounted" No filters used at all. I forgot my ND Grad 3 Stop SS. Oh well.

I love the fantastic textures in the foreground! Nice job!

Hey James!. I really like the textures and wave patterns in the foreground too, and also the diagonal nature of the dunes in the composition. The light probably could of been better, but it's still giving you some nice contouring and depth. Congrats on the new cameras for you and Becca!.

Ditto on the textures, James. Color is good, too.

Beauty of a shot James. The waves in the dunes and the diagonals make this a very dynamic image.

NIce one, James! Gotta watch those dunes--they destroyed my CF tripod, unfortunately i found this out just as i was leaving for the Grand Canyon so i had to make do with a cheap backup. Now i know.

Ok Here's another to look at. I took 179 but was bracketing a lot to get used to shooting the D90

More nice stuff! I especially like the horizontal Herard/Seven shot. I think the 'standard' view of the last post is getting old for me, although i confess i did stop there last time i left the Dunes. But that was mainly to talk to this guy who was shooting time-lapse imagery of the clouds over the Sangres--really cool stuff.
