Queen Wasp on Heather
A Queen Median Wasp from a nest in my garden resting on some Heather, taken last September.

Canon 30D with MP-E 65 macro lens.

F13, 1/160, ISO 100, diffused Speedlight on side bracket, handheld.

A larger version is available HERE.

All C+C welcome.

Groovy! Echo what phil says but maybe a pity the antennae cross the eyes:smile:

Hi, I am surprised about the DOF in this shot.
You did a perfect job about paralelling the face of the wasp.

I found a comatose queen wasp yesterday, whilst moving some flower pots. Placed it gently out of harm's way. Excellent detail in this striking image.
