I posted a shot of the face of Mt. Wilson in ESS earlier this week so here is a wider perspective of that scene. It's Red Rock Canyon right outside of Vegas. I know not California but Nevada doesn't have a forum and it's so close to California.
This is great, the foreground is perfect. I really feel like I can walk into the scene and up to those cliffs. That snow really makes a difference too!
Steve, I updated your telephoto link for easier viewing. This is as good as desert scenes can get IMHO. Deserts are not always easy to dig outstanding compositions out of at times. I think deserts have a lot to offer as photographic opportunites and this image surely proves that. Excellent capture.
As a side note Steve, I saw your comment about Nevada and the lack of forum there. As always, we invite posts of images from ANY location here in CANP, however, only images from California locations are used as our cover shots on the CANP site. So, scenes such as this are always welcome and thanks for posting it.

Beautiful conditions!
You might want to sturate the ground a tad?

I can't think of anything I would change here. Lots of interesting elements top to bottom. Nice work!

Steve,
This is fantastic! The dusting of snow really helps separate the Joshua tree and the background mountain. The sky is a beautiful compliment as well.
My only nit is that the mountain seems a little soft - but that's only a web thing I'm sure.
