I posted in M&N a couple of photos if you care to review the photos...

I risked my camera there, going during a high-wind warning, and it stopped working towards the end of the day. Coming home I cleaned and vacuumed it thoroughly and it started to work again.

Thanks!

I gorgot to mention:

The ranger reports mention we might get CACTUS BLOOMING in march/april from al lthe rain that has been falling, if the ideal conditions line up.

Since this is a rare occurence in death valley we may want to keep our eyes peeled and ears pricked. It might be worth planning a trip there when the time is right.

great shot Dan! I might consider cropping out the sky though. :toast:

Dan, I have got to go with the first composition. That is an excellent M&N scene IMHO. The blown sky did not bother me at all with my primary focus toward the main dune area. In fact, sky re-works are something that is possible in PS if handled properly. A really great scene no matter what. :toast:

Dan did the ranger say where in DV the cactus normally bloom?

Great scale in this one, love the composition, well done!

Thanks!

I could plop in a fake sky, but I don't usually re-work photos in that direction, or just crop it out since the angle I have permits it. I really wanted a general sentiment on that one...

For the flowers I couldn't tell you exactly. Maybe other more experienced members here could complete the info... However there are cactii all around, except maybe in sand dunes and salt fields.

While the dog is more identifiable in the second image, I much prefer the composition of the first. Great capture... I love the dynamics involved with this shot!

Dan,

Great image. Clearly the wind is a factor and your image captures that nicely. I prefer the posted version even though it's hard to figure out it's a dog walking the top of the dunes in front. A very good image for M&N and I'm glad your camera is still working.
